About 300 mountain gorillas inhabit an extinct volcanic region called the Virunga Range along the borders of Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo in East Africa. The other 350 or so mountain gorillas inhabit a nearby area of Bwindi in Uganda, a thick rainforest. You hike in the Kibale Forest, take game drives and boat trips in Queen Elizabeth National Park, and stay in Mbarara town to ensure that you see the full range of Ugandan wildlife and culture. We recommend an extension to Murchison Falls National Park for stunning scenery, wildlife encounters, and the spectacular falls themselves. Wildland Adventures travelers to Uganda support the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International through our Travelers Conservation Trust.
